Birthday Blues.

So, it appears to be Monday again. It seems as though in a blink of an eye, the weekend has passed us by once again. At least we can find comfort in the fact that Christmas is in 8 days! I am so pumped and I hope you are too.

As some of you know, my birthday was Saturday. As I gradually grow older, birthdays are a bittersweet celebration. I enjoy my birthday the same way I did as a little girl, but at the same time I don’t because I don’t favor the idea of getting older. Friday night was our company Christmas party and I want to show off my winter white dress.

I paired it with wine colored booties, a small studded purse, chandelier earrings, and a rosette hair adornment.

I had white in mind the entire time I was thinking about an outfit for the party. It seems in winter, people favor the color black. I love that white is such an unexpected contrast to the harshness of winter color palettes. It is very airy and refreshing.

I guess what I am trying to say is that the “rules of color” do not apply to the times anymore. Wearing light colors in spring and dark colors in fall are old ways of thinking. You can wear ANY color you want no matter the season. Where I do draw the line is in textile. For instance, white in winter is fine. However, white eyelet or super summer cotton IS NOT really appropriate. Just like you would not wear a wool, sweater dress in July.

So when it comes to seasons, its not about the color, its more about the fabric! I hope that makes sense! 😀

My favorite detail of this dress is the circle, open back. It is super flirty since the rest of my body is SO covered up.

Please excuse my environment, this is in a hotel room. Which is easily recognized by the lovely green dot and pasty orange curtains, right?

This cute purse was a gift, it compliments my dress perfectly.

These booties were another one of my black friday scores.

Here I am with my cute, little date!

The hotel lobby was surrounded by these teddy bear trees. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta of New Orleans, on the infamous Bourbon Street. The hotel is trademarked by teddy bears. It’s oddly strange and cute at the same time.

Hope you enjoyed my vent on having the birthday blues and to prove that age does not matter, I will share how many years I have been around…
